Did you find any similarities between Kai and the Vulcan Spock from Star Trek.
They both being logical, cold creatures in character roles I often wondered if maybe Kai wasn't based a teeny tiny bit on Spock.
And for another tongue twister ;D of all your leading men who was the sexiest in your opinion?

I think it would be safe to say that Kai was at least in part Vulcan-inspired. From the bit of Kai that I've seen though, and I'm no Lexx expert mind you, he seems to be cold and calculating all the time. The Vulcans on the other hand have always been written and played as beings that lead a life that's detached and calculating but, under it all, there's feeling. They just hide it. With Kai there didn't seem to be any feeling at the core.

OH MY! so there is life on this bboard after all Yes agreed with your assessement of the dead man and the cold one. Kai's 'feelings' were removed when he was given the good going over by the bio-vizer so hence no emotions there though he did regain his memories. Sad..so sad..but then that's what made Lexx!

Yeah, a little bit of life, anyway! One thing I have noticed about Kai, though, is that he will sometimes go against what he knows to be logical if his shipmates are in jeopardy or the situation somehow demands it. It could be argued that in doing this he exhibits some kind of emotion, or at least a characteristic that's frequently rooted in emotion, loyalty.

Nice to read you again Mark! Good point! After Kai regained his memories I think he tried in his own way to make up for his past 'sins' as a dark assassin..so he must have had some feelings still lingering in his heart and mind when he made his choices in helping his mates in space, well I hope so anyways!

All Kai is, is dead. He's not acting cold and logical, he's acting cold and lifeless. Spock had passion, Kai has none. Spock came from a race of beings who reigned in emotion, Kai simply can't feel or express emotion. He's more like an animated recorder than a person. He acts on what he knows to be 'right', but beyond that, he has no special feelings for anyone. Kai's character wasn't based in the least on Spock, from what I've gathered in the interviews. Everything conceived of Lexx was totally new. This is almost like trying to compare His Shadow to Darth Vadar.

I think you're mostly right, janika. However, if you want to look at the two characters in general, the archetype if you will, there is some basis for comparison.

Dang..and I thought they went to the same tailor for the capes ;D
